About myself:

I transplanted myself from Vermont and became full time here in Venice, Florida, in early 2005.

For those interested in my background, I grew up and attended public schools in Vermont.  I attended the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, graduating with my B.S. degree.  I volunteered for nuclear power and submarine training.  After training I served as a division officer on a Los Angeles class nuclear attack submarine.  Then I became an instructor and eventually class director at the Submarine Officer Basic Course at Submarine School in Groton, Connecticut.  I separated with an Honorable Discharge and thereafter attended the University of Connecticut School of Law in Hartford, Connecticut, earning my Juris Doctor degree.

I engaged in the general, private practice of law with a small firm in Vermont from 1991 to 2001.  As of 2001, I was a solo practitioner with a firm name of North Star Legal Services, PLC, until June of 2004, whereupon I joined the Vermont Department of Labor and Industry as the Worker's Compensation Staff Attorney.  While in solo practice I was pleased to serve as Acting Small Claims Judge from time to time.  The acting judge position provided me with experience in the discernment of disputed facts and conflict resolution.  The Staff Attorney position gave me the opportunity to work with highly qualified and motivated specialists and departmental attorneys. I also gained experience in administrative judge duties on the informal docket. I left in April of 2005 to be full time here in Florida with my family.

I am very happy to help my fellow Floridians with their wills, trusts, durable powers of attorney, designations of health care surrogate, lady-bird (aka enhanced life estate) deeds, and other documents necessary to plan for disability and death.  I cannot overemphasize that both young and senior adults need to have their documents prepared and from time to time reviewed by an attorney at law.  I look forward to helping you.
